Introducing the A∙cobra∙tic Update!

The update you’ve all been waiting for is almost ready! We’re super proud to announce the A∙cobra∙tic Update for Ultimate Chicken Horse will be coming March 12th to all platforms. Check out the trailer!

For all the juicy details, slither over to the A∙cobra∙tic Update Page and read all about the new character, new blocks, and new levels. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

There’s other news too, just in case a massive game update isn’t enough for you.

Switch Release in Hong Kong and Korea

The game is finally out on Nintendo Switch in the Hong Kong and Korea regions, as of February 13th. While we’ve been out in those regions on PC, we think the Switch will give us much more access to potential fans in those regions.

Still Big in Japan

It appears that Ultimate Chicken Horse is still big in Japan! We were the 11th best-selling download-only game on Nintendo Switch in Japan in 2019, and the team is super proud of that. We’re also happy to get to interact with fans from across the globe, and as you may have seen in the blog last month, these fans are really dedicated.

PAX, GDC, and the Pixelles Ensemble

Rich is headed off to PAX in Boston next week to see what’s new and bring back some inspiration, and then a few weeks later Rich, Gen and Alex are headed to the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. We’re very proud to be sponsoring the Pixelles ensemble at GDC, a convention scholarship by an organization that aims to help marginalized developers get into and excel in the industry. We’ll come back with pictures and update you next month!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the new content! Sending love from Clever Endeavour HQ.

Cookies from Japan, Reflections on 2019, and a Sweet Farm Bundle!

Greetings from the Clever Endeavour Crew! Some fun updates to kick off the new year. First off, we got cookies! Normally that wouldn’t be so exciting, but these cookies are special in many ways. Look at these beauties:

But what really makes these creations special is that they come from two special superfans of ours in Japan. Tsumugi and Kinu are 8-year-old twin sisters who sent us a ton of fan art, including an 18 page long comic about the adventures of our characters (in Japanese).

In response, we sent them a couple of custom child-sized t-shirts as a thank you. Then, they won the gift-giving contest.

If we were to respond, we might have to send them a giant golden chicken statue (don’t get any ideas people), so I think we will concede. Huge thanks to them—the cookies were awesome—and a huge thanks to our entire community for their continued support.

Next up, a new video blog! We wanted to share with you some of our favourite things from 2019 and talk about what we’re excited for in 2020, just like we did last year. Here it is!

If you’re curious about last year’s videos, here are parts 1 and parts 2.

Oh! And in case you missed it, Ultimate Chicken Horse is currently in the Humble Sweet Farm Bundle. We normally don’t do bundles for this game, but we couldn’t resist the perfect theme. And hey you can get Stardew Valley and a bunch of other sweet games!

That’s what’s new for this month! Well actually, there’s a big new update dropping super soon. The update will have a new character, 2 new levels, and 4 new blocks.  We’re submitting all this stuff to certification for all platforms very shortly, so look out for some teasers coming in the next few weeks. We’ll be announcing that pronto with a fresh new trailer! Stay tuned…

Babies! Music! Game Awards!

Happy holidays boys and girls!

We’ve got some fun updates to share with our community as we move into the holiday season.

Babies and Music

First off, there’s a new Clever Endeavour baby! Yes, another one. That’s 3/6 team members who brought new humans into this world in the last six months. Fabio and his wife Joyce are happy to introduce Daniel Lins Grisi, the newest ClevBaby. Apparently he doesn’t need the white moustache tape anymore.

Fabio also has another baby to introduce! What? This baby is a labour of love, and comes in the form of his first music album! Listen to Fabio’s album “Oh, Hi Dare!” on Spotify now

Game Awards

As you may have seen, last week was the 2019 Game Awards, which saw a ton of new announcements along with the awards ceremony. Here’s a detailed recap. We wanted to talk about a couple of the Montreal studios with big reveals, and mention some of our favourite moments from the show.

First, Double Stallion announced their game Convergence, which is a “League of Legends story” according to the trailer. Very curious to see what the gameplay is like, and really happy we can now talk about it. Rich had been pestering our friends from that studio for a while now but they couldn’t tell us what they were working on… now we know!

Our friends over at Tuque also announced their new Dungeons and Dragons themed game, Dark Alliance, with a lovely intense metal track from In Flames (one of Rich’s favourite bands). This reveal comes after the announcement that Wizards of the Coast acquired the game studio back in October.

Eve wanted to shout out to the madness of the Muppets segment to introduce the “games for impact” category. Not much to say about this… just watch it and you’ll understand why she suggested it:

Her favourite trailer of the event was this haunting one for Hellblade II. Rich would like to point out that this is also very metal.

UCH Updates

On the Ultimate Chicken Horse front, we’re wrapping up this new update and early next year we’ll be able to announce it. Very excited to share this with you, but first we’ve got to finish up the final touches for the content, some testing, localization (translating the new stuff in the game into 14 languages), and implementing new audio. A lot of work goes into these updates!

Happy holidays to everyone! That’s all we’ve got for this update, but we’ll see you in the new year and hopefully you’re as excited as we are for what’s to come.
